This one was painted in a diffuse light from a south facing window.  I love to paint tea cups, they present subtle drawing and value challenges but have a strong silhouette.

I sold all but two of my paintings last weekend, and am feeling REALLY EXCITED about this blog.  My paintings are improving by the day and I'm very rapidly ironing out the creases in my marketing and selling online.

Daily Painting # 40 - SOLD

I can't believe it's already been 40 days since I started my 1000 painting challenge (and this blog)! Really enjoying the learning progression and my paintings are selling well, so all round it's been a real success so far. 

For me there are a few objects that I always revisit and repaint, which usually highlight how much I've improved.  A can of Baked Beans is one of those objects.

I found this great copper kettle second hand, and knew it'd make a brilliant still life object!

I really enjoyed painting this one, and hopefully it shows.  Available tonight on eBay.co.uk along with my other auctions and the pepper painting from yesterday.

Thank you to all those who recently shared my blog on Facebook, or stopped by to have a look.  Yesterday I had as many views as the last month combined.  With my paintings selling well and demand growing I can't wait to see what the future holds.

There's something about single-object still-life's that I love.  I know they don't have the more complex lighting behaviours such as reflected light and occlusion shadows between objects, but a single object to me can often make more of a statement, if you know what I mean?

I'm really happy with the way that this one came out.  The little sugar pot has an interesting angular handle which is a pleasure to paint, and grapes are always a challenge! Looking forward to seeing where this painting ends up once sold.
